APPLYING TO THE ILI FELLOWSHIP
Applications to ILI are accepted from established and emerging artists, culture bearers and other arts professionals in various stages of career development.
Preparing to Apply
PROGRAM FORMAT & DATES
ILI will be conducted through three intensive multi-day cohort gatherings in addition to a series of opportunities to connect virtually between cohort gatherings. The gatherings will be hosted by core partner organizations over a week-long period. The 2018-19 ILI intensives for the second cohort will occur within the following dates:
SELECTION PROCESS, ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS & APPLICATION SUPPORT
Artists, culture bearers and arts managers in various stages of career development may apply. Up to 30 people will be selected to participate in the Institute with 12 nominees chosen from the ILI core partners’ memberships and the remaining participants chosen from the applicant field at large. Applications will be reviewed by a panel that includes representatives of the ILI core partner organizations, fellows from the first ILI cohort as well as other nationally recognized leaders in the U.S. arts and cultural field.
At the time an application is submitted, the applicant must be an artist, culture bearer, arts professional and/or administrator. Successful applicants will demonstrate strong leadership potential within the field of arts and culture as well as a deep commitment to community, social change and/or cultural equity. The program will be rigorous and will require commitment to attend three week-long in-person convenings as well as participation in online sessions, peer interaction and other engagement over the course of a one-year period. All program costs including accommodation and travel will be covered for program participants by ILI and our funding partners.

Complete applications must be submitted online no later than Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 6 pm CST. A complete application includes an Online Profile, Narrative, Audio or Video Essay & optional Work Sample.
HOW TO APPLY

Address all of the following questions in either narrative form (maximum 1,000 word count total) or in video or audio form (5-minute maximum) which can be linked or uploaded in the online application form.
You have the option of providing a work sample to accompany your application. If you are including a sample, prepare a description of the work sample in less than 250 words, noting if the artistic work is your own or work you have facilitated or supported as an arts professional. Audio or visual samples less than 5 minutes (time stamp indicators on longer pieces are acceptable), written samples up to 1,000 words, visual samples up to 4 images or a website link are acceptable work sample formats.
